Only 115 slots are available this summer, so please complete your application and secure your slot as soon as possible. Students will be notified of their acceptance no later than April 30, 2019. After you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email and instructions for submitting your unofficial transcript. After your GPA and classification have been verified, you will receive an acceptance email with instructions on how to submit the one-time participation fee of $10. There are no other costs associated with this conference. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of the applicant will be required to sign and submit release forms. Forms will be provided upon acceptance into the program.

Transportation:

There will be charter bus transportation to and from the conference, provided from three regions of Missouri: The Bootheel, Kansas City, and St. Louis. Escorted by a Missouri State Patrol Officer, a charter bus will pick up students from one location in each region on the morning of June 22, 2019 and will bring them directly to MU’s campus. Students living in other parts of Missouri will have to arrange to travel to one of the three major areas for charter bus transportation to MU. Students will be chaperoned by two conference staff members to and from MU’s campus and buses will be escorted by Missouri State Patrol Officers, to and from MU’s campus. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of students in the Mid-Missouri area must provide transportation to MU’s campus. On the afternoon of June 25, 2019, the buses will depart MU and will return students to the same pick-up location in their region. Students will receive detailed transportation information after their acceptance.

What to Expect:

DSC 1253EDIT2Students will participate in a full schedule of activities, workshops and presentations about the legislative process, policy, leadership, and college preparation. Students are expected to fully participate each day conference. All students will be escorted and supervised 24/7 by MU Doctoral and Undergraduate students and staff. Participants will not have unsupervised free time to roam campus.

Cell phone usage will be limited during the program, primarily to meals and the hour before lights out each evening. Please be reminded that MU and the MLBCF are not responsible for lost or stolen property.

Students will be housed in a MU residence hall and assigned a roommate of the same gender identity. Linens will be provided in each room. Roommates will be randomly assigned so students will have an opportunity to make new friends and acquaintances during their experience. Due to the size of this program, we are unable to accommodate roommate requests. Meals will be provided by MU Dining Services in MU’s all-you-care-to-eat dining facilities.
